Time to tackle car litter louts?

Car littering

Would you like to see car drivers issued with penalty notices, if it can be proved litter was thrown from their car – even if it was not the driver who discarded it?

The City Council are always keen to tell people that they are fining pedestrians, especially within the city centre, as detailed in the local media, but what about dealing with irresponsible motorists throughout the city?

Road litter is a big problem for many councils, especially at a time of significant budget pressures, and Peterborough is surely no different?

It is always difficult and expensive to clear rubbish from roadsides and it also poses an environmental hazard, which impacts on wildlife.

Maybe we just need more bins along the roadside?

As always please do let me know what YOU think about this matter, by posting a comment below.

I’ve now contacted one of the senior officers at the Town Hall to find out what exactly they are doing…….. if anything at the moment to address this concern?

  1. If you are walking in a vehicle throwing litter down is an offence so both should be fined if it can be proved I’ve seen KFC boxes and McDonald boxes etc thrown out of car windows with food still in them so you get chips chickens bones and empty drink cans all over the road

Have YOUR say!
